Scripture: 1 Kings 19:12 & Mark 5:1–15
Sometimes.. the loudest thing in our lives doesn't come from the outside, it's what's inside that roars like a hurricane.
Elijah knew what it felt like to run until he couldn’t run anymore. Fear gripped him. He sat under a tree and begged God to take his life. When God finally showed up, it wasn’t in the storm or the earthquake or the fire. It was in a whisper. A soft, steady voice cutting like a knife through the noise.
Centuries later, we find a man on the other side of the sea. He didn’t just hear voices.. he was tormented by them. A legion of lies, shouting in his mind. He was naked, ashamed, scarred by his own hands, abandoned by everyone.
That's when Jesus came.
And He didn’t have to yell over the madness. He didn’t have to raise His voice to compete.
He simply spoke.
Suddenly, the chaos in that man’s soul went quiet. One whisper from Jesus carries more power than every self depricating thought in your mind. One word from Him can still the storm, cast out darkness, and call you by your name when all you’ve known is your shame.
And the best part: He still speaks. His whisper; gentle and kind, can rescue you from the loudest lies you’ve ever held in your inmost being. And He is calling you. Out from the madness, He wants YOU.
Prayer Guide:
Jesus, Sometimes I can’t even hear myself think. There’s fear, shame, voices from my past. So many things screaming that I’m not enough, not loved, not whole. But I believe You are still the God who whispers. You don’t need to shout to reach me, You just come close. Come close again, Lord. Like You did with Elijah, like You did for that broken man on the shore, come find me in the noise. Speak peace over my storm. Call me back to myself. Remind me that I’m not too far gone. That even in the graveyard of my thoughts, Your voice still has power. And when You whisper, I’ll listen. Because Your whisper is the only one that tells the truth.
Amen.
